Had an amazing time at OMED this year in sunny San Diego, CA. OMED is the annual conference for osteopathic physicians to learn about updates with the ever-changing nature of medicine.
I was asked by the American Osteopathic Association to give a 30-minute talk and demo for Culinary Medicine. As some of you may know, it is a relatively new burgeoning field. I talked about my experience in motivating patients for behavior change as I demonstrated a Cauliflower Ceviche Recipe. If you missed it, here were my tips:
- Shop along the perimeter of the supermarket for the freshest ingredients.
- Remember to meal prep to cut down on time.
- Remember as the primary care physician that we are in the end role models and community leaders. We lead by example.
- We do not have to be chefs to prepare healthy meals for ourselves or to convey to our patients. We just need to step foot into the kitchen and start cooking.
