OMED 2018

October 8, 2018

Had an amazing time at OMED this year in sunny San Diego, CA. OMED is the annual conference for osteopathic physicians to learn about updates with the ever-changing nature of medicine.

I was asked by the American Osteopathic Association to give a 30-minute talk and demo for Culinary Medicine. As some of you may know, it is a relatively new burgeoning field. I talked about my experience in motivating patients for behavior change as I demonstrated a Cauliflower Ceviche Recipe. If you missed it, here were my tips:

  1. Shop along the perimeter of the supermarket for the freshest ingredients.
  2. Remember to meal prep to cut down on time.
  3. Remember as the primary care physician that we are in the end role models and community leaders. We lead by example.
  4. We do not have to be chefs to prepare healthy meals for ourselves or to convey to our patients. We just need to step foot into the kitchen and start cooking.

Let me know what you guys think! All book proceeds on Amazon for this month of October will benefit a charity. Please click on the link below!
